Agriculture students gain a broad education in agriculture and an opportunity to emphasize their area of greatest interest through extensive hands-on and face-to-face educational opportunities at our 800-acre farm and 2800-acre ranch. Along with the main areas of focus, the degree may include equine science, horticulture, and pre-veterinary medicine. Students become qualified for a wide variety of agriculture industry based careers. This bachelor's degree can be completed in 3 or 4 years.

Agriculture Studies Emphases

As a student in this bachelor’s degree program, you will take a common core of classes and then choose an area of emphasis in which you will take more specialized courses. Areas of emphasis include:

Students also have the option to customize a general agricultural degree program to achieve specific career goals.

While lower division Agricultural Sciences classes may include between 30-40 students, upper-division courses in this degree program are much smaller and include only 10-15 students. This intimate learning environment gives instructors an opportunity to work closely with all students and help them fine-tune their career plans to meet their personal objectives.

Internships and Career Outlook for Agriculture Majors

Many agriculture majors take advantage of internship opportunities working in production agriculture, agriculture lending, natural resources/range management, and extension.

Graduates in Agriculture with an Agribusiness Emphasis enjoy careers as ag lenders, extension agents, in production agriculture, farm and ranch managers, veterinarians, Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Natural Resource Conservation Service, horse trainers, etc.
